Water pleasures

All around the Island’s shore there are certain coves that are more protected from Ocean currents and waves, thus generating a refuge for sea life ideal for snorkelling. Also diving centres are to be found in the most spectacular spots. Accessibility varies with tides and strength of winds. There are many sections of beaches with perfect conditions for surfing, windsurf and kite-surf. Mostly on the Eastern shore, few on the Northern.

Generally as it is with snorkelling, not the entire Ocean shore is suitable for swimming. There can be strong currents. We have rocky, pebbles and sandy beaches, and besides that, natural swimming pools cut into the rock, and protected from the waves, but only containing Ocean water. In every town there are sports centres (like we do have one at Santa Brígida), always equipped with covered swimming pools and saunas.
