Artist&Researcher-in-self-quarantine programme in rural Gran Canaria autumn 2020 - open call
Was it not misanthropic when we chose to live in a house that is surrounded by more trees than people. It would be hard to discuss Wittgenstein or the Art of Light Environments with them. Now we offer our private atelier rooms for those who would better spend at shortest a 4-weeks period of reduced fee in our house located on a hillside in the green north of Medianías of Gran Canaria. Our artist-in-residence programme is limited to a maximum of 4 persons self-isolation programme during the autumn months. Since we cannot guarantee what restrictions of activities shall be in force in the following times, we recommend this opportunity for those who wish to get far from crowds, in a charming natural setting. We were inspired by the epidemiologic crisis destroying our casual ways of keeping in touch, still, we would provide a space-time for introspection and exchange of ideas in voluntary seclusion. We know these times resemble much of that of Bocaccio’s Decameron, our rural nothing may become precious in contrast to the cities’ reduced offer of pleasures. Regarding this exceptional situation, during September, October, and November we are also accepting applications of a minimum stay of 4 weeks, for a reduced weekly price of €170, for two persons (as a single virus community unit) applying together for occupying the same atelier for €210.

(Last minute) Thematic call: Are you interested in participating in the Reading group: "Archaeological sampling" of LGBT literature?
Special residency period from 29 December 2019 – 12 January 2020.
During this period residents have the opportunity to join, at no extra cost, two sessions of a friendly and informal reading group of LGBT literature, convened by Péter Cserne. The group will discuss the prose début of highly acclaimed Asian-American writer Ocean Vuong: On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous (2019). A second session, on 7 January, will focus on possible queer readings of a great classic, Herman Melville’s Moby Dick (1851).
Artist residents might also be interested in collaborating and creating artwork inspired by LGBT literary figures: authors and heroes, for instance, by designing alternative covers for the books discussed in the reading group. These include Sándor Márai: The Rebels; Michael Arditti: Of Men and Angels; Sá-Carneiro: Lúcio's Confession; Marguerite Yourcenar: Memoirs of Hadrian; Mikhail Kuzmin: Wings; Alan Hollinghurst: The Swimming Pool Library & The Sparsholt Affair; Christopher Isherwood: A single man; Saleem Haddad: Guapa; André Aciman: Call me by your name & Find me.
